Poor Mentality - Is It All About MONEY??

I got this insight from the morning devotion at school. The morning devotion at school talked about the poor vs rich mentally. I hope this will be a blessing for others.

There's a verse:

"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."                                I Timothy 6: 10  - KJV

What does that verse mean? Does it mean that we should be poor instead of be rich ones?
Should a person of God work for money to get on living? What is the meaning of being poor and rich?? Here is some insights.

It is true that money makes life easier. We can get the better education, better environment and better living. Yet, money is not everything in life. Even the person who has millions dollar in his account may have poor mentality. So, what is the poor mentality?

1. Poor mentality is only asking but never giving
The person who has poor mentality always thinks that the world owes him/her. So,  instead of giving, the person is very demanding to his/ her surrounding. He/ she demands his/ her spouse to meet  his/ her standard, but he/ she has never met his/her spouse's standard. So, instead of giving, they like to take. There's somehow a golden rule that we can find it in Bible:

There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.                                                            Proverbs 11:24 - KJV

2. Poor mentality is a negative way of thinking
The poor mentality person has a negative way of thinking. He might be blessed abundantly but he sees his life as failure, and sees the others in negative way. Instead of seeing the glass is half full, he sticks with seeing the glass half empty. I believe that negative way of thinking attracts negative things in our life. I have had this negative thinking because of the way I was raised. However, this negative way of thinking creates worries. Worries create the ulcer problems. Since I have trained my way of thinking, my ulcer problems have gone! I also have got the peace in mind and heart.

3. Poor mentality judges people by their appearance
The poor mentality only sees people by their wealth. How much do they own? How many cars do they have? How much do they earn? They put more respect to rich people, however, they fail to see the wealth in people's character. They measure people with tangible matter, money. No wonder, many people do everything to have money including selling their beliefs and themselves to mammon. There are some news that some girls sell themselves to buy the latest fashion or gadget. Some collect money to gain respect, prestige and acknowledgement from others.  But when the money is gone, the respect is gone too.

In this consumptive society, we should train ourselves to have rich mentality; or else, we become bitter and enslaved by money. We should content ourselves by what we have earned. I believe when we learn to see the 'silver line in the darkest clouds', we can appreciate life and its beauty with clearer view.
