June
June is always a special month for me as it is the time to
take a break and contemplate with my life. June is also the time of renewal as
well. During June, I usually have a time to reschedule and recheck what I want
in my life.
Last June, I have resigned from my job in a Christian school.
I loved my job. I loved my colleagues and a bunch of tasks there. However, I have
to move out to another island next October. I don’t know what I am going to do yet. There's a doubt, fear too. This is
almost the same situation in June 2014.
I remembered two
years ago, I quitted my job which I had worked for 7 years. That time, I had resigned
from the job without knowing that I would get another job in an instant. Same
as that June, I once again has taken a leap of faith since I don’t know what the
future will store for me.
As June has passed, there are many possibilities to go. First thing first, I have to finish my thesis writing. Oh.. boy, the hardest challenge is to defeat myself and commit on writing my thesis. My flesh chooses to avoid the labor and procrastinate.
I remember "Eat That Frog" - A #1 book of Brian Tracy (Eat that Frog). He stated in his book: if our most important task is like a frog, eat that frog first thing first thing first in the morning. If we have 2 frogs, eat the ugliest one - the biggest, hardest and most important task. I think it's a good pointer for living a successful life.
However, "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." - Matthew 26:41. Even though my brain knows I have to eat my ugly frog, but heart and the attraction of procrastinate is much greater. As flesh needs to be disciplined and trained to follow what mind and spirit command. Hopefully by disciplining flesh, the new habit is formed. But that's another challenge and story to battle.
Many people dislike themselves so much. They think themselves as failures. They expect new things happen in their lives, but they do nothing. They complain about how unfair the life is. Well, tell you all this: life is indeed UNFAIR. Nothing new about it. You need to fight to win the race of life. But there's a hope in it as for every single and simple effort we do in our lives at this moment will affect our future. How small the change is, it will shape our future.
Albert Einstein once stated "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"link . So let's be sane. Evaluate our goals. Shape our minds. Change our habits. Form our habits. Eat that frog.
I do.
