The Past, The Present and The Future - A Contemplation

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens - Ecclesiastes 3:1-

A couple days ago, I watched a movie with the title "In Time". It's a 2011 American dystopian sci-fi thriller film which tells about a future society where people stopped aging at 25 ( I bet the anti-aging cream factory will be closed down) and each people will have a clock in their hands that show how long they can live (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Time ). In the story, when some people become immortal because they have all time in the world; some have numbered days. Time becomes very valuable commodity more than gold, more than anything.
The wisest man who ever lived on earth, King Solomon, summarized his thoughts about time in Ecclesiastes. He stated that there's a time for everything on earth. There's a time to be born, there's a time to die. There's a time to weep and there's a time to laugh. There's a time to love, there's a time to hate. There's a time to war, there's a time to peace. Nothing new under the sun. Life will go on in the course of time.
We are in beginning of 2015 and just left 2014. It's all in past now. Our past with our bitter-sweet memories and mistakes have been buried. We have got kind of clean sheet to write, though we've stepped into 2015 by not knowing our tomorrow. The new challenge, new territory, thousands possibilities and million choices are awaiting us in 2015.  Some choices will lead us to our greatness, some choices will lead us to our downfall. We can make the same mistakes, but we also have choices to do right things. Whatever we will do, time will always go on and our lives are bound in time. When we deal with the time, we deal with the mortality of human. We are being limited in our years, our days have been numbered. We may plan our future, yet the path we don't know. I wonder how convenient if we can know exactly what will happen in the future. We can avoid some mistakes or tragedy, but the fact is we don't have power to know our future. A fresh tragedy at the end of the year reminds me how fragile life is.
Not knowing about what would have happened, a big family had booked tickets to go to Singapore on Sunday Morning. I imagined there had been a rush of holiday excitement because they were together with their beloved ones to celebrate the end of the year in Singapore. They had booked some tickets, hotels and prepared many plans to spend their new year. But what they didn't know, they had never spent new year in Singapore. The plane was missing and just found 3 days later. From 155 passengers and 7 cabin crews, only few have been found, and many are still missing.
The wound is still fresh, the tears are not yet dry. The lost is still unbearable. Their relatives, families and friends are still devastatingly waiting the news. The sudden loss has grieved souls. Maybe some of their friends, families think 'if only they knew it was the last time to see them, they would spend the time wisely. If only they knew, they would love more, give more, spend more time'. However, we can't change the past since time is going forward not backward. We can't change the course of time, but we can learn to give more, love more, and value life while we still have time with our beloved ones. We can live in present and be the present (gift) for others. We may not have all the time in the world, or we can't guarantee our future, but we can use our time wisely now. Be wise how you spend your life, because time is limited edition and priceless. When our time is up, we go back to our Creator.
Carpe diem. Seize the day.

( A poem about the past, the present and the future)
Time

Time is a monetary that is never tarry.
It runs wild and not always merry.

Some dwell in regrets and sorrow.
They forget to face tomorrow.

Some are drunk in bright dream.
Their paths are guaranteed, it seems.

O, how the hands of fate can change time.
Sometimes reality and dreams are not always in rhyme.

We never can delay the future, nor change the past.
When the calamity struck, our souls are aghast.

We  can turn to live in fear and terror.
Until our hearts wrench into sour.

We also can choose to live wisely,
We become a present for someone daily.

My deepest condolences to the families, relatives and friends of the crews & passengers of Air Asia QZ 8501. May God give them strength. courage and love.-

Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Psalm 90:12 NIV
