The Double Beauty Standard

She told me that a friend of her asked her to do a plastic surgery because her friend thought my friend’s jawbone is too high. Furthermore, even the friend has insulted her that she would never be beautiful though she has a plastic surgery. Honestly, I saw nothing wrong with my friend’s appearance. She is beautiful the way she is. She is attractive the way she is. I think the one who has criticized my friend’s appearance is the one who is not comfortable the way she looks herself. My friend and I were graduated from Faculty of Letters. As students of Faculty of Letters, Shakespeare’s sonnet was a part of the curriculum. A Marriage Life

A plain girl met her fairy godmother who turned her into a beautiful girl. The girl then fell in love with Prince Charming. Next, the girl married Prince Charming. They lived happily ever after. The end.  Well, most fairy tales end with the wedding between the girl with her Prince Charming. That's why most of female friends I know (well including myself) have started the relationship with starry eyes, head over the clouds of happily-ever-after ending. Yet, no fairy tales tell about the life after marriage.  When a couple got married, they must do the marriage vow, no matter whatever their religions are.
